Orchid House Orchid Beach

This could be your personal, spectacular beach house for a week or more.

Orchid House nestles on a private 3/4 acre block of paradise looking over tall trees to the Pacific Ocean. Situated about 400 metres from the beach, it is fully self contained and sleeps a maximum of 8 people in 4 bedrooms. The house captures every sea breeze for the bedrooms and living areas have ocean views to the front, and the privacy of native bushland to the rear.

The kitchen contains a full size gas oven and cook top, a 420 litre electric all refrigerator and a 320 litre upright freezer. The cupboards are fully stocked with commercial quality crockery, cutlery, glassware, pots, pans and every cooking and baking item you would want. A large stainless steel gas BBQ, and a big fibreglass drinks esky are conveniently located on the covered verandah.

Arrival and Keys: After 2PM regardless of tide times or earlier ONLY if arranged with caretakers.

Departure: Before 10AM regardless of tide times, or later ONLY if arranged with caretakers.

Cleaning Bond: Please leave the house as you found it. We have a refundable bond of $100 which allows you to keep the overall rental cost down, by cleaning before you leave.

Bedding and Linen: Pillows, covered doonas, mattress protectors are supplied. You will need to supply your own linen - pillow slips, top & bottom sheets, towels and bath mats.

Maximum of 8 people allowed in house: Camping in house grounds or sleeping on the floors is not permitted under local bylaws.

Rubbish: Bins are provided, however rubbish removal, during and at the end of your stay is your responsibility.

Power System: Our fully automatic, computerised, eco-friendly solar power system supplies 24 hour power to all lights, the refrigerator, freezer, washing machine, etc. The power system does not have the capacity to allow guest's electrical items. Car fridges, hair dryers, and heaters are not permitted. Phone and camera chargers and laptop computer power packs can be used, as can most portable medical equipment.

Other Activities: The house does not have TV but a quality CD player with provision for iPod and laptop connection. There are board games, playing cards, scrabble and jigsaw puzzles as well as a comprehensive range of books.

General Information

Pets: National Parks and Wildlife policy does not permit pets on Fraser Island.

Health: Medical services are limited at Orchid Beach A local airstrip can provide for emergency situations. Please carry a first aid kit and necessary prescription medicine.

Shop: Orchid Beach has a shop suppling basic provisions (No meat or fresh vegetables) fuel, limited take away food and a licensed bar.

Telephones: Mobiles phones (Telstra and Optus) do work at Orchid Beach, however reception can be patchy. A Public Phone Box is at the Orchid Beach Shop and at Waddy Point camping area.
